Mokume-gane (Mokumegane) is a Japanese metalworking technique in which varying colored layers of precious metal are alloyed together to create a sandwich or a "billet". Mokume gane translates to "wood eye metal" which reflects the wood grain patterning admired by the Japanese craftsmen.
What does Mokume-Gane mean? It is a Japanese term that can be translated to "Wood Eye Metal". The methods used to make Mokume reference wood grain patterns of eyes, burls, swirls and layers but since they are made from precious metal they are long lasting and incredibly durable.

Dating back to the 1500’s, the rose cut was an especially popular cut for engagement diamonds. Resembling the growth pattern of a rose petals, the rose cut is flat on the bottom and faceted along the top.
